A #5 pop/#1 adult contemporary single from Sugar, Nancy's fourth album in 1966 for Reprise, "Sugar Town" hit the charts a week before Thanksgiving. On the way to scoring RIAA gold, the trippy psychedelic pop single peaked during the Christmas holidays.
Literally, "It was hard to put any other songs with 'Sugar Town'," Nancy remembers. "It was basically about LSD, but was not publicized as that. It was Lee's 'Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds.' It went against my image, which made it tough to choose the other songs for the same collection."
